Roofing Operative Lead

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced roofing professional who enjoys a varied, hands-on role combining roofing investigations, minor repairs, specialist testing and team leadership. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality roofing inspections and remedial works across a range of commercial and industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct roof leak investigations and fault-finding surveys across commercial and industrial properties
  • Inspect, assess and carry out minor repairs across a range of roofing systems, including single-ply, built-up felt, liquid waterproofing and metal roofing
  • Perform Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) testing to identify defects and water ingress issues
  • Undertake drone roof surveys and inspections, capturing clear photographic evidence and site findings
  • Identify defects, failure points and remedial requirements, providing practical repair recommendations
  • Lead and supervise a small roofing team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
  • Ensure all repair and investigation works comply with relevant Health & Safety standards and UK Building Regulations
  • Prepare basic scopes of work and technical recommendations for repairs and maintenance projects
  • Produce accurate digital reports, condition assessments, and remedial recommendations within agreed deadlines
  • Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and internal teams to provide updates and technical support on-site

Key Skills:

  • Strong practical knowledge of commercial roofing systems and repair methods
  • Experience in carrying out leak investigations, roofing repairs and maintenance works
  • Knowledge of roof build-ups, waterproofing systems, insulation and drainage systems
  • Experience with Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) testing and drone surveys is highly desirable
  • Previous experience leading or supervising a small roofing team
  • Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple jobs, reports and deadlines effectively
  • Full UK driving license
  • CSCS Card
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary & Benefits:

  • £38,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience)
  • Company Van
  • Paid overtime
  • Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4.30 pm
